Churchhill Downs

Opening in 1875, the iconic racetrack has drawn in visitors from all over the world. Churchill Downs holds the annual Kentucky Derby. Churchill Downs Racetrack can hold 170,000 people. 

The racetrack hosts dozens of races between April and November. There is nothing like the sound and feeling of the racehorses thundering around the track and the roar of the crowd. 

In addition to the racetrack, Churchill Downs has the Kentucky Derby Museum. The museum provides the history of the Kentucky Derby and American Thoroughbred horses.

The Jefferson Memorial Forest is a forest and wildlife refuge in Louisville. The area has more than 35 miles of trails. The memorial forest was designated to honor Kentucky’s military veterans. Fishing is permitted at Tom Wallace Lake, and the lake is stocked with trout and catfish. Tent camping is available to guests for a fee. 

The Horine Conference Center is located in Jefferson Memorial Forest and is available to rent for weddings and retreats. The memorial forest is managed by the Louisville Metro Government.

The Kentucky Kingdom is an entertainment park in Louisville near I-65 and I-264. They have over 70 rides and other attractions. The Kentucky Kingdom also has a water park: Hurricane Bay. It is a fun place to visit for anyone!
